Our story goes all the way back to 1964, when John Adcock with the support of his wife Beryl, decided to go into business in Cambridge. John was an experienced refrigeration engineer and he started out providing services to local butchers and shops as well as working on milk tanks on the local dairy farms. He steadily grew the business from there, eventually branching out into Air Conditioning.
Since then, Adcock Refrigeration and Air Conditioning has grown into the successful business that it is today with over 250 employees and 11 branches. It has always retained its culture of respect, transparency and authenticity. John and Beryl are no longer with us, but their legacy continues in the way that we run our business.

Our directors have each been with the company for over 30 years and have grown through the ranks. They have continued to look after the business and its people in the way that John always wanted them to.
The culture of our company, as reflected in our values, is grounded in our people. Our mission statement, “Delivering an outstanding client experience every day, by creating a great place to work” neatly sums up what we are about. We believe that by creating a Great Place to Work, where individuals are trained, appreciated and valued, we will create a team that is motivated and happy, and this will be passed on to our customers through our excellent service.

Our Values

I have been working for Adcock for 5 years. I started as a Maintenance administrator  (maternity cover) so with a fixed term contract, the permanent position then became vacant 9 / 10 months later and I was very happy for the opportunity. In December 2020 the Service administrator position became vacant and I had the opportunity to apply for the vacancy, I am now the Service administrator at the Reading branch. I can just say that this is the best company I have ever worked so far, I am grateful for the opportunity to progress. I enjoy working with my working colleagues every day.
