Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines started out as a family business in Norway. The Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines Head Office is now situated in Ipswich, Suffolk and the company is now in its fifth generation of the Olsen family, offering various aspects of the cruise and passenger shipping trade. Fred. Olsen’s four cruise ships – Balmoral, Braemar, Boudicca and Black Watch – sail from the convenient regional departure ports of Southampton, Dover, Liverpool, Newcastle and Edinburgh (Rosyth).

Scope of the Job

Adcock Ipswich were appointed to install two Toshiba ducted split systems connected to KE fabric duct systems for the busy Fred. Olsen Head Office.

The Challenge

Before the systems had been installed, the Fred. Olsen staff in this area had complained of uncomfortable drafts in the office. The installation of the fabric duct systems have remedied this issue.

The Toshiba units are located above the ceiling and feed conditioned air into the office via the two KE Fibertech fabric ducts. The ducts are coloured blue to keep with the nautical theme of Fred. Olsen and the style of the office.

How We Helped

Fred. Olsen have been long-standing clients of Adcock since 1997. They currently have a maintenance contract in place with the Ipswich branch. Adcock kept the working area tidy to minimise disruption for the main call centre, which is based at the Head Office. The Marketing, Public Relations and Sales teams are also in the same office.

By installing the fabric ducts, the staff at the Fred. Olsen Head Office are now benefitting from draught free cooling.

Equipment Installed

Adcock installed two Toshiba ducted splits connected to two KE Fibertech fabric duct systems. Two other fabric duct systems had already been installed in 2016, which were connected to the existing chilled water fan coils.
