With our Head Office based in Cambridge, we work closely with all branches, departments and their managers to ensure that all aspects of the business are working efficiently and professionally.

Phillip Prior - Chairman

I joined the company on August 8th 1977 directly from school. Previously I had worked with a local engineer during school holidays and weekends. Having gained this work experience, I realised it was a career and industry that interested me, with its vast diversity and differing environments the work took us in to. I then enrolled as an apprentice at Willesden College under the City & Guilds scheme and successfully qualified as a Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer. The next few years saw me working mainly on refrigeration serving dairy farm Bulk Milk Tanks and local village butchers cold rooms . Following spells at our Peterborough and Norwich offices, I returned to Cambridge as the Service Manager then soon after assumed the role of Branch Manager. I was appointed as a Director in 1991 and then as Managing Director in 1998. Now in our 50th year of trading I remain as passionate as ever about the company, our staff and the service we provide our clients.

Nigel Claydon - Managing Director

I started my career with Acrow engineers where I served a four year apprenticeship and gained a HNC in mechanical engineering. Acrow were a worldwide multi-discipline organisation that had a refrigeration division that manufactured water coolers and water chilling equipment. This was the side of the business that interested me most so I was transferred to them during my apprenticeship and worked in the R&D department and the environmental test bays. After the four year training period, I then progressed to representing Acrokool throughout the UK by carrying out commissioning and specifying projects, many of which were new to the company. After seven happy years I decided I wanted to broaden my knowledge of the industry, so when I saw an advertisement from Adcock I applied to join them. I started at the Chelmsford branch in 1980 in what was John Adcock’s third branch. At the time it was a very small operation with one engineer and a part time secretary but today it is our largest branch. The rest you could say is history. I am very proud of what we have achieved, not only for the Chelmsford operation but also the progression of the company and the development of the other branches which I have been an integral part of.

Paul Brant - Deputy Managing Director

After leaving Melbourne Village College at 16, I started an apprenticeship with Marshalls of Cambridge at their Thermo King Transport Refrigeration division based at the Teversham Garage site. Having attended the Marshall training school I then achieved City and Guilds qualifications at Cambridge Technical College, which was followed by extensive training at Thermo King’s own training school in Galway where I was involved with installing of air conditioning to 100 Land Rover based Military ambulances and a large number of marinised refrigerated containers to ship food to the forces in the Falkland’s War. I joined Adcock in April 1985 as a service engineer and then took over the management of the Peterborough branch in December 1987. At that time the Peterborough office operated under the name of Adcock Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (Midlands) Ltd. I was then made a director of the Midlands company in August 1991 then set up the Northampton Branch in October 1992. I was made a director of the main company Adcock Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Limited in January 1994, a position that I have enjoyed since then and I look forward to the next stage in both mine and the Company’s journey.
